Despot Slav hotel welcomed its first guests in the dawn of the new millenium, in the not so distant year of 2000. It bears the name of Despot Slav, a medieval ruler of an independent southwestern principality with its major city of Melnik. During the rule of the prince the town gained an unbelievable cultural and craft bloom – mural painting, wood-carving, goldsmith’s trade, smithery, masonry and others as well as free trade with Dubrovnik and other advanced cultural and trade centers. During the 14 centuries of its existence of the smallest town in Bulgaria – Melnik, it has preseved a lot cultural monuments from the ancient times of the Thracians, Romans, Byzantines and Turks.

Built entirely in the traditions of the typical old Melnikan houses – with stone foundations and walls, doors made of wood, windows with tinted glass and furniture from wrought iron and glass in retro style, the hotel has all the advantages of the modern civilization such as phone line, digital TV, bahtroom with WC and mini-bar in each room.

The complex has at its disposal a tavern with 60 seats and lobby bar with 30 seats. The modern kitchen of the restaurant offers original dishes from the contemporary world cuisine, as well as specialties from the Bulgarian cuisine, bound to the traditional preparation of all courses.
