Danubia Beach is a unique vacation complex, situated on the absolute waterfront, on the bank of the Danube River, in the picturesque village of Simeonovo, not far from Vidin city. The complex features an apartment hotel with an outdoor swimming pool, Bistro (small restaurant), beautifully landscaped garden, riverside beach with fine sands and a private pontoon with its own moorings and boats.
Danubia Beach is situated approx. 220 km northwest of the capital Sofia, 15 km from the regional centre Vidin and around 20 km from the borders with Romania and Serbia.
Danubia has 35 fashionably furnished apartments, studio type (hotel rooms), as well as one- and two-bedroom apartments, suitable for both families with children or groups of friends. All apartments are completely furnished and fitted including full kitchens with cooking facilities, air-condition, cable TV, wireless Internet connection. The panorama terraces on each apartment afford breathtaking views towards the imposing Danube River and the beautiful river islands around.
The complex features many additional facilities, which will make your stay a pleasant experience. The outdoor swimming pool consists of separate areas for children and adults, sun beds and sunshades. In the lovely green garden, guests can relax with a refreshing cocktail or perhaps barbecue their freshly caught fish over traditional coals. Right next to Danubia there is a refined river beach with fine sand. Here guests can lie under the hot rays of the burning sun or swim in the river. Also opposite our beach, we have anchored a private pontoon with boats, which is suitable for both sun bathing on and diving off.
The Bistro serves delicious dishes and refreshing drinks indoors, as well as in the outdoor zone of the complex, around the pool and on the beach. The specialties are mainly dishes from local recipes and fish delicacies, prepared only with organic products, grown locally in the village.
Visitors to the complex will have no chance to get bored, even for a minute. For the keen anglers, we have prepared a special program with experienced guides who will take you fishing in your own private boat. We promise a rich catch of different kinds of Danube fish like Nase (chondrostoma nasus), Ide, Common bream and many others. Highly recommended are the exciting fishing trips for catfish. During the winter months, this is the best place for Beluga Sturgeon fishing – one of the last remaining sites in Europe where this is still possible. The fishing along the Danube River is a unique experience, which cannot be compared with any other place. For beginners we can offer training and practical courses, as well as full fishing equipment for rent.
There are several river islands close to the village, which offer beautiful sandy beaches and are a real paradise for numerous river birds – pelicans, swans, herons, cormorants. The islands are easy accessible with our boats and guests can visit them for sightseeing, sunbathing, water sports or fishing.
The water sports on the river are an excellent source of entertainment. The river is suitable for windsurfing, sailing, canoeing, water skiing and jet skis.
Simeonovo village is small, but very beautiful and relatively well settled. Not more than 100 people live in the village. It is easily accessible along a beautiful asphalted road. There is a regular bus to Vidin every half hour. Several times a day direct buses to Sofia pass through the village.
The regional centre of Vidin is easy accessible along a nice road, just 10 minutes drive by car. Vidin is an extremely beautiful Danube city with a 2000 years old history, dating back since Roman time. Established during the III century BC, the town has always had a strategic location for all the countries it belonged to – The Roman Empire, the Bulgarian Kingdom, the Vidin Kingdom, the Austrian – Hungarian Empire and the Ottoman Empire.
The most remarkable historic monument is the Baba Vida fortress. It is the only completely preserved fortification facility in Bulgaria. Its foundations were laid at the end of the X century on top of one of the towers of the ancient town of Bononia. Its outlook was completed in the XIV century, when it was a castle of one of the last Bulgarian kings before the Ottoman rule, the king of Vidin - Ivan Sratsimir (1352 – 1396/97). Along with this, visitors to the town can view a number of other interesting sights, such as the Krastata Kazarma ethnographic museum, the Turkish konak (police office) which was transformed in an architectural museum, the library of Osman Pazvantoglu, and the art gallery. For lovers of the arts, we would recommend a visit to a concert by the Vidin Philharmonic Orchestra or a performance at the town’s theatre. Something not to be missed is the town of Belogradchik (only 45 km) with the famous natural phenomena of the Belogradchik Rocks, as well as the medieval fortress close to the town. Another important attraction in the region is the Magura cave, which is one of the biggest caves in Bulgaria with a total length of 3000 m. 1400 m are well laid out and completely lit and open for visitors. The cave was inhabited 12 thousand years ago by prehistoric people, who left over 700 cave paintings on the walls. Right next to the Magura cave is the Rabisha Lake – a wonderful, natural water basin, which is the biggest inner lake in Bulgaria. It has a tectonic origin and its depth reaches 40 m. It is suitable for water sports and fishing.
A major part of the Vidin region is covered by the massifs of the Western Stara Planina (The Balkan Mountain Range). We highly recommend a mountain excursion to the Belogradchik rocks or the Chuprene Balkan Mountain, which peaks with “Midjur” at 2168 metres. For trekking tours along interesting routes, we can provide you with experienced mountain guides.
We can also offer a trip on a cruise boat along the Danube River, a visit to the neighbouring Romanian town of Calafat, one day excursions and shopping tours to the nearby Serbian towns of Zajecar and Negotin.
All excursions and sightseeing trips can be organized locally upon demand, after your arrival.
Be our guests. We promise you a pleasant stay, unforgettable emotions and experiences. This is a really different holiday on the bank of the Danube River.
